Setup

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

In this guide, we provide a step-by-step explanation on how to set up the Bitaxe for the first time after delivery.

The setup guide for the Pimp My Bitaxe Upgrade Kit can be found here.

Congratulations on your new Bitaxe – made in Germany!

Because both quality and performance matter to us, every Bitaxe leaves production already set to 1.30 TH/s. Our philosophy is simple: if you invest in a Bitaxe, you should be able to extract the maximum in both speed and efficiency.

Since we ship with peak performance enabled, about 5–10 % of units may initially run a little hotter than usual—but a quick tweak fixes that at once.

Quick check (5–10 minutes)

  • Power up the miner and open the dashboard.
  • Stable at ≈ 1.30 TH/s and the fan stays < 100 %? → Perfect, no action required.
  • Fan pinned at 100 % or hashrate sagging? → Your chip just needs a brief voltage fine-tune.

No worries—your device isn’t “worse.” It simply wants to run on slightly lower voltage to become even more efficient. A few clicks drop the core voltage, the temperature settles at 60 °C, and your Bitaxe runs quieter, cooler, and leaner. German engineering meets German fine-tuning.

1. Attach the stand

Screw the Bitaxe onto the stand. The mounting screws required for this are included in the package.

2. Attach the base

Slot the two parts of the stand together to connect them.

3. Plug in

Plug in the Bitaxe using the power supply. The device will start automatically.

4. Connect to Wi-Fi

Connect to the displayed Wi-Fi network using your smartphone or computer.

The following screenshots show the process on a smartphone.

5. Network configuration

The network-configuration page should appear automatically.

If it doesn’t, open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.

Enter your Wi-Fi credentials:

  • Hostname: the device’s name on your local network (can usually be left as is)
  • Wi-Fi SSID: the name of your local Wi-Fi network
  • Wi-Fi Password: your Wi-Fi password

Tap Save and then Restart. The Bitaxe will now reboot.

Important note about network configuration

Both the Wi-Fi name and password are case-sensitive. Special characters and spaces must also be entered exactly; otherwise the Bitaxe can’t connect to your network. It’s best to use the built-in Wi-Fi scan (button to the right of the Wi-Fi SSID field).

Tip: If the connection still fails, try your router’s guest-Wi-Fi. That often works more easily.

6. Mining Settings

We recommend using the preset mining pools. Simply enter the Bitcoin address you want to mine to in both “Stratum User” and “Fallback Stratum User.”

If you’d like to give the miner a name inside the pool, append “.bitaxe” to your address (e.g. bc1puft26r8tk48r3ne29t3uvvhe98jsmh8p9g7g29wcwnkkls4gze0s96sju7.bitaxe).

Finally, click Restart once more. The Bitaxe will reboot and immediately start mining to your own Bitcoin address.

7. View the Display

After the Bitaxe connects to Wi-Fi, the display briefly shows the Bitaxe and OSMU logos. It then alternates every few seconds between two status screens containing all key information. Use the IP address shown on either screen to access the device in your web browser.

8. Access via Browser

The view after accessing the Bitaxe via the IP address shows that the device is running and actively mining.
